These older vines in the Dundee Hills are coveted by winemakers, and it’s good “get” for a startup winery. This might be one small step more impressive than the Willamette Valley – but maybe not. I think I’ll have to taste them both again . . .
From Parker: “The 2019 Pinot Noir Nysa Vineyard comes from more than 30-year-old, own-rooted vines on an east-facing slope in the Dundee Hills, part of the original Domaine Drouhin property, planted to Pommard, Wadenswil and Dijon clone vines. Medium ruby, it's nuanced and layered on the nose, with tar, cured meats and pepper and a core of wild blackberries. The palate is elegant and seamless, opening from savory to floral tones and finishing with an uplifted, ethereal quality.”
