Suckling 95 Points
This is generally the best of the Purple Hands top-shelf pinots, sourced from the estate Latchkey Vineyard in the Dundee Hills. The same fruit is used in the Ken Wright Latchkey pinot noir, which has become about Ken’s most popular wine, allocated by the bottle. This is a big step up from the Lone Oak Ranch, with serious dry extract, firmer structure, and even more layers of luscious fruit. Decant for an hour or two, or leave it open on your counter for a few days to enjoy the progression of flavor as it unwinds, or wait 18-36 months for a more integrated wine. This is really good juice.
From Suckling: "Seductive aromas of spiced cherries, baked blueberries, cinnamon and dried flowers. It’s medium-to full-bodied with firm, ripe and polished tannins. Plush and creamy with a deliciously spiced core of wild berries. Impressive concentration and balance. Drink or hold."
