What Winemakers Are Saying About The 2017 Vintage
THE GOODFELLOW ASCENDENCY

Marcus Goodfellow Hits a New Level of Winemaking I’ve recently tasted several 2015 pinot noirs from Goodfellow Family Wines. The wines are his new “Heritage” bottlings, which highlight old-vine, single-vineyard sources that he’s worked with over time – in some cases, more than a decade. The Heritage wines are the best wines Goodfellow has bottled to date, and mark a new chapter in his development as a winemaker. For his continued improvement over more than a decade, for the undeniable consistency he has achieved in recent years in particular, and for the superb Heritage series bottlings from the 2015 vintage,...
95 POINT NEIGHBORS, AND A 95 POINT CHARDONNAY

Patricia Green Cellars and Beaux Freres Winery are neighbors up on Ribbon Ridge, Oregon’s smallest AVA. In fact, they share a fence line and occasionally some farming equipment. They are also two of my favorite wineries, whose wines routinely compete for ‘best of vintage.’ Today I’m featuring one wine from each producer that was recently awarded a 95-point score. That’s a lot of points, regardless of which critic it is, and denotes a terrific wine. I’ve posted those reviews below, followed by a 95-point chardonnay! Sometimes it’s a party, sometimes it’s a blind tasting of pinot noir hosted by wine aficionados. When I want a reasonably priced wine that’s going to outshine the other wines, and that will win a blind tasting against many more expensive wines, I grab a bottle from Ayres. Just last year, in fact, I included this wine in a blind tasting and it was the clear winner against a 94-point, $65 blockbuster (that I also...
2015 SEQUITUR AND 2014 WHITE ROSE WINEMAKER’S CUVEE – NEW VINTAGES, EXTRAORDINARY PINOT NOIR — THAT HAPPEN TO BE OUR RESERVE CLUB SELECTIONS FOR JULY, 2017

I recently conducted a tour of Oregon wine country for some private clients, and we visited a goodly number of top producers, and tried a lot of terrific wines! Two wines in particular stood out to me, and are among the best Oregon wines I have tasted in recent memory. So, I chose those two wines for our Reserve Club. In fact, this is my process for all the wine clubs — whatever I have had lately that makes my palate light up and my head swivel, that’s what we send out to our wine club members! 2015 Sequitur Pinot Noir $100...
